Fully buccolingually impacted wisdom tooth.
This impacted wisdom tooth was growing sideways and that's why we couldn't see anything like a tooth on the x-ray. Even though it's fully covered by jaw bone and gums, the patient still felt lots of pain and wanted to have it removed. The surgery was not as easy as other top wisdom tooth extractions because it involved removal of the bone surrounding the wisdom tooth. But the recovery was uneventful. #wisdomtooth

Wisdom tooth extractions.
It seems nothing wise with wisdom teeth. All they do is to cause pain, inflammation, infection. And the most common treatment is wisdom tooth extraction just like this case. Also they can have abnormal anatomy - how weird their shape is! It may take lots of wisdom to grow so weirdly. #wisdomtooth

A wisdom tooth with a strong root.
This impacted wisdom tooth caused lots of pain, inflammation and infection of the gums around it (pericoronitis). Extraction is the only option. But it was not an easy one. From the removed tooth, we can see the curved root with a big lump at the end. This abnormal anatomy created a lot of resistance during the operation. With care and patience, the tooth eventually was removed without damaging any adjacent nerves (mandible and lingual nerves). #wisdomtooth

Wisdom teeth extraction - Is it a wise decision?
Wisdom teeth extraction was requested by patient's orthodontist. The two lower wisdom teeth were fully impacted and couldn't be seen in the mouth. Surgical extraction procedure was performed and fully closure of extraction sites was achieved. The surgery was uneventful. However is it necessary? Were the wisdom teeth really pushing other lower teeth forward? Were they causing front teeth crowding? Would they compromise orthodontic (braces) result? Researches suggested remo

What a cute wisdom tooth!
This wisdom tooth had a very curved root with root tips like hooks. The extraction was performed very carefully to avoid root fracture. #wisdomtooth

A wisdom tooth has got wiser.
After extraction , this wisdom tooth showed a small extra root in between two major roots. But there was no root canal inside, which could be absent or calcified. #wisdomtooth

It's wise to have wisdom teeth checked.
Impacted wisdom teeth may cause pain, decays and gum inflammation. But sometimes wisdom teeth can cause more serious problems. In this case, a large infection cyst associated with lower right mandibular wisdom tooth gave the patient severe pain. The patient had to be managed by a oral and maxillary surgeon who performed an urgent operation to remove the cyst and wisdom tooth under general anesthetics. The pathology showed it was an odontogenic keratocyst. It is wise to have
