Writer's picture: Dr Changjie GuoDr Changjie Guo

Tooth-colored composite fillings are the most widely used material for dental fillings. Amalgam fillings are getting less and less popular because it less conservative and unaesthetic. Some may concern about mercury as well.

Even though composite resin is very good material for dental fillings, it is not as durable as metal alloy, like amalgam. Composite fillings can become discolored over time and need to be replaced for cosmetics.

This case showed an old composite filling became yellowish with defective margins. An excellent result was achieved after replacing the old filling.
