Amalgam fillings also are known as silver fillings. Many studies on the safety of amalgam fillings have been done because concern has been raised over the mercury in amalgam. They found no reason to limit the use of amalgam and amalgam fillings are safe for adults and children ages 6 and above.

However amalgam fillings should be replaced when they are worn, defective, broken or decayed beneath the filling. Or if you have any concerns regarding your existing amalgam fillings, we are happy to help you remove them.
