    Sinus augmentation and immediate implant placement - part 2: crown restoration.

    We did sinus lift surgery 6 months ago because there was not enough bone for dental implants. Now it's time to check if the sinus augmentation is successful. The intra-oral picture showed the implant was nice and solid. No inflammation. The surrounding soft tissue was normal. The gum was nice and pink. The x-ray showed the implant was perfectly positioned and the sinus grafting was successful. The implant passed 30Ncm torque test. Two weeks later, the final implant supported

    A patient with a missing upper first molar requested to replace the missing tooth. On examination, we found an upper left first molar missing and root caries on the second molar, which meant the second molar was unrestorable and a dental bridge would not be an option.     Sinus Lift.

    Sinus lift is also called sinus augmentation. It is surgery to add bone to upper jaw, specially in molar and premolar area. The sinus membrane will be "lifted" to make room for bone grafting. From CBCT, we can see the sinus floor was too low and the remaining bone was not enough for implant. In this case, lateral window technique was used.
