Teeth grinding (bruxism) is one of the most common causes of wearing down teeth. It directly wears down tooth enamel and teeth start to flatten when enamel disappears. Enamel can't regrow once it's gone.
Can we fix worn down teeth from grinding? For a long-term result, ceramic veneers or porcelain veneers are normally the best option. They are durable and still minimally invasive way to restore and rebuild the teeth to their proper form and aesthetics.
This case showed the top front teeth had been worn down badly. The teeth became shorter with weird shape. Because of insufficient overjet and the stuck-out tooth, there was high risk of damage of the nerve and making teeth too bulky. After a short course of braces to straighten teeth and created enough overjet, four porcelain veneers were cemented on the top front teeth. The final result was nice and natural. Of course, a night guard (full occlusal splint) was provided to protect the teeth and veneers.
